Some questions are worth being unmovable about. At TOROM, the nature of God is one of them.
We believe, without compromise, that there is but one true God — not three separate persons sharing one being, but one God who has revealed Himself to us as Father, in His Son Jesus Christ, and as the Holy Spirit. Scripture is not ambiguous on this: “The Lord our God is one Lord” (Deuteronomy 6:4-5). “In Him dwelleth all the fulness of the Godhead bodily” (Colossians 2:9). “God was manifest in the flesh” (1 Timothy 3:16).
Jesus Christ is not merely a piece of God. He is the fullness of the Godhead, bodily — manifested in the flesh, justified in the Spirit, seen of angels, preached to the nations, received up into glory. Fully God. Fully man. One Lord.
This is not a minor doctrinal footnote for us — it shapes how we baptize (in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ, for the remission of sins, per Acts 2:38), how we understand salvation, and how we preach the Gospel: repentance, water baptism in Jesus’ name, and the infilling of the Holy Spirit evidenced by speaking in tongues, exactly as the early church received it in Acts 2.
We hold to this not out of tradition, but out of conviction — because we believe the pattern the apostles left us in Scripture is still the pattern for the church today. One Lord, one faith, one baptism, one God and Father of all (Ephesians 4:4-6).
